On the most sought after mountain for skiing in South America there is a first descent that disappeared into history.
One of the most globally recognized silhouettes, Artesonraju, the mountain on the Paramount logo, First skied during the "French invasion" in the late 70s and early 80s is now recognized as South America's most sought after ski-descent.
After half a century, the mountain has completely transformed. The ice retreated, the glacier fractured, the impassable serac previously cutting the face in half collapsed, leaves a new possible route down the SW face.
Revisiting it today feels less like repeat, and more like discovering an entirely different mountain, Bringing on the question:
What does it mean to follow in someone’s footsteps when the mountain beneath them no longer exists?

Expedition Notes
Behind-the-scenes
"Little was ever written about the descent, and no documented return appears to have followed. This first descent remained unknown to all the locals in Peru and skiing this line we thought we were the first...
..I guess we kind of were, No-one has skied or documented the face we skied"

Collaboration Opportunities
Every expedition creates a window of opportunity, and right now the window is open.
The photographs have been made. The film is being edited. The story is being shared with editors around the world. Before it reaches the public, there is a unique opportunity to become part of the project and the expeditions that follow.
We are seeking long-term partners who believe in authentic storytelling and want to associate their brand with ambitious mountain exploration and innovation, meaningful adventure and imagery that continues to create value long after the expedition is over.
Stunning imagery captures attention and the authentic stories earn trust.

Next Chapter
Our next expedition will return to Peru to build upon these ideas, using speedwings and paragliders not only as sports, but as expedition tools, opening new possibilities for movement, exploration and visual storytelling in the high mountains.
We are currently looking for editorial partners, brands and organisations that share our passion for exploration, mountain culture and meaningful storytelling.
If you’d like to become part of the next expedition, or explore how this story could live through your publication, campaign or audience, we’d love to start the conversation.
